5 ways to protect your kids on the playground

5 ways to protect your kids on the playground | Synch Bands

As a mom, one of your top priorities is keeping your kids safe. And while you can't be with them every second of the day, here are 5 steps you can take to help ensure their safety.

1. Teach Them the Rules

The first step in keeping your kids safe on a playground is to teach them the rules. Let them know that they should always stay within sight and that they should never go on the equipment without an adult present. Additionally, teach them to use the equipment properly and to never push or shove other kids while they’re playing.

2. Inspect the Equipment

Before letting your kids play on a playground, take a few minutes to inspect the equipment. Make sure that there are no loose bolts or sharp edges that could hurt your child. Additionally, look for signs of wear and tear, such as cracks or splinters, and make sure that the surface beneath the equipment is soft and free of debris.

3. Dress Them Appropriately

Another important tip for keeping your kids safe on a playground is to dress them appropriately. Avoid clothing with drawstrings or loose straps that could get caught on the equipment. Additionally, make sure that their shoes are secure and not likely to fall off while they’re playing.

I know, it seems like a no-brainer. But you'd be surprised how many times I've seen kids running around on the playground with their laces flapping in the wind. Not only is it a tripping hazard, but loose laces can also get caught on playground equipment, which can lead to serious injury.

So, next time your little one heads out to play, take a quick moment to double-check their shoelaces or make sure they have Synch Bands in their shoes. It could end up being the difference between a fun day at the park and a trip to the ER.

4. Use Sunscreen

If you’re going to be at the playground during sunny weather, make sure to apply sunscreen to your kids before they start playing. Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and reapply it every two hours or after your child has been sweating or swimming.

5. Supervise Them Closely

Finally, always supervise your kids closely when they’re playing on a playground. Even if the equipment appears to be safe, it’s important to make sure that your child is using it properly and not engaging in any risky behavior.

As moms, our top priority is always keeping our kids safe. And while we can't be with them every second of the day, there are certain precautions we can take to help ensure their safety. One of those is making sure their shoes are always tied tightly. So, next time your little one heads out to play, take a quick moment to grab the sunscreen and double-check their shoelaces or make sure they have Synch Bands in their shoes. It could end up being the difference between a fun day at the park and a trip to the ER.
